Description
I observed a very near miss at this junction this morning. A driver emerged from the North side of Action street, either having failed to make adequate observation or deciding that he would not give way to cyclists on Russell Street. Two cyclists, one heading East and one heading West, each had to take action to avoid a collision with the car and, having observed the Eastbound cyclist too late, the car came to an abrupt stop. The driver then proceeded to give verbal abuse to the cyclists.
There may be a signage issue here: the driver appeared to be of the opinion that the cyclists were at fault, although there are no signs or road markings on Russell Street that indicate they should have stopped. Perhaps the stop signs on Acton Street need a 'cross traffic does not stop' plate adding.
