Bus stop shelter sign is misspelled. Hard to tell if it is an attempt at edginess or the usual incompetence. Either way the shelter is also still filthy with cigarette butts. It is Murray Hill Road, Murray with an A.

The stretch of Little Patuxent Parkway and 175 / Rouse Parkway between the Columbia Mall and Columbia Crossing is an ideal site for the first leg of a local public rail transit system in Howard County. Not only would rail service along this stretch majorly reduce road congestion from local residents between the western and eastern halves of Columbia, but also, strategically placed stations could allow the RTA bus system to expand outward and serve even more residents with higher quality transportation than ever before. The project could eventually be extended to Gateway Overlook or even to Jessup Station to connect or transfer to the MARC.

Subject: Bus #979; keeps parking in Fire Lane (blocks homeowners parked VEH's from moving freely)

    RGCA/Reference: 23-3-6-6095

    Good afternoon,

On a regular basis, HCPSS bus #979, continues to park in a posted "Fire Lane/No Parking" in the cal-de-sac at the top of Rock Glen Drive in Elkridge.

Please note the marked sign below and how close this is to homeowners parking spots adjacent to where the bus continues to park. The homeowners state this impedes their VEH's from freely maneuvering to and from their assigned parking spots.

The bus driver was alerted by a homeowner that she is not suppose to park there due to being a fire lane (bus driver remarked "I know") and continued to park. Transportation Department was notified and the call taker stated she would contact the manager. The bus continued to park at said location for almost 45 minutes afterwards.

This occurs in the mid-morning and in the early afternoon. It was noted that the homeowners association was contacted and advised HCPD Patrol will be contacted in the future.
