    The signal at this intersection used to give a walk signal to pedestrians on demand only. Now it gives a pedestrian walk signal (north or south on Hearst Avenue) when no pedestrians are present, thereby holding up traffic.
  • University At Shattuck Berkeley, California - Berkeley

    Drivers on Eastbound and Westbound University Ave frequently run the red light at Shattuck Ave. There are 2 sets of signals in close proximity within a short distance and depending on the signal phase one light will be red while another is green. Drivers frequently only see the green signal and not the red light.

    Public Works needs to install louvers or adjust the visibility of the traffic signal before an accident occurs here. The Shattuck Ave reconfiguration is supposed to fix this long term but the intersection is a major safety hazard in its current configuration
