RE: DOG PARK // Item number 3 on the sign posted at the dog park, state that an OWNER can have a limit of 2 dogs at a time. There is a person that regularly brings 5 dogs at one time. Most of these dogs are bigger. They look like huskies. The park ranger asked her about the dogs and she stated that others in the park watch them for her. This is clearly is a rule violation. I have two concerns, aside from the blatant rule violation. My first concern is if there every were a fight between her dogs and/or others she wouldn’t have the ability to break it up. My second concern is how can she make sure she is doing her due diligence when picking up “waste”?

Can you please have the park rangers address this matter?

I am sending this message to request a stop light to be placed at the intersection of Shaver Rd and Vanderbilt Rd in Portage MI. It is a dangerous intersection for cars turning onto Shaver from Vanderbilt. I was recently involved in an accident at this intersection due to this.

Violation of chicken ordinance, especially lines 5 and 8. "Coop" is not healthy for the birds and not 10 feet from the resident's property line. Garbage, such as feed bag tops, etc, is allowed to blow into neighboring yards. Tried to knock on resident's door to politely discuss. Although there is a camera out front, door is never answered.

A fairly large chunk of Styrofoam from the storm is stuck up in the tree in the curb lawn in front of our house. It's above the sidewalk so we are concerned for the safety of anybody walking by.

  • 7361-7435 Garden Ln Portage, MI, 49002, USA - Portage
Four vehicles in the park after 9 p.m., including one camper mounted on a pickup truck with the camper legs extended down so it seemed pretty clear it was being used to camp in the park over night. The other cars were making noise and driving in the wrong direction in the park. This was all going on at like 9:30 p.m.

I am officially filing this complaint as a way to respond to some posts I have recently seen. I have been at the park before during one of these alleged "complaints" and no one with 5 dogs was there. I do not appreciate this person filing multiple complaints about larger dogs in the dog park meant for dogs over 25lb. This person is clearly discriminating against larger breeds. This person is causing an unnecessary disturbance to the community. It clearly states in the rules that you enter at your own risk. The second rule states the city of Portage is not liable for your decision to enter.

As for rule violations, I would be happy to point out this individual has already "violated" the weight limit for the small dog park. I do not see why this individual is picking and choosing what rules are being violated. As for the concern about multiple people claiming the dogs, that is clearly written within the VERY FIRST RULE: "1. The Owner, defined as any individual who brings a dog to the Dog Park or has a dog in his or her care, is legally responsible for that dog and any injury or damage caused by the dog." If others are claiming the responsibility of the other dogs, it is clearly within the set rules.

I was asked today where all my dogs were. I had no idea what this person meant. It took me asking for clarification to learn about the drama that has been unfolding and others at the park informed me about these reports. The fact the aggressor is just going at anyone who has a large dog is frankly not okay. I question the validity of these claims, as I do not own 5 dogs and yet was asked about this.

This continues to be a problem. The same woman was at the dog park on 5-23 with all 5 of her dogs. She left the park at 6:11 PM without another person with her and put all 5 dogs in her car and drove away. I did see a female park ranger in the large dog park but do not know if she talked to the woman with all the dogs.
