  • 2-98 Hoyle Ave Toronto, Ontario, M4S 2X6, CAN - Toronto
Signs and pylons have been sitting at the corner of Soudan Ave. and Hoyle Ave. for months. Then, recently they put in a new sidewalk. All they need to do is add another layer of asphalt and take away the signs and pylons.
  • 665 Millwood Rd. Toronto, Ontario - Toronto
Half-hearted attempt at a Tree Protection Zone. Partial TPZ is really a "Tree Pee Zone" with a port-a-potty parked next to a City Tree (blue spruce).
  • 601 Merton St. Toronto, Ontario - Toronto
Dry cutting of stone by landscape contractor right in front of Pottery Playground on Merton St. released carcinogenic material into the air. Those exposed to airborne silica dust can develop silicosis (https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/hs/pubs/silica/gl_silica_3.php). Similar to asbestosis. Contractors should always do wet cutting of stone/concrete to avoid exposing themselves and the community to cancer-causing silica.

No TPZ posted or barricades erected on residential construction site. Note: port-a-potty situated in the root zone against the trunk. Reported to Ward 22 Councillor Matlow's office and TPPR-South (Urban Forestry enforcement) on Sept. 8, 2016. No movement on issue since then. More construction materials, soil and vehicles parked in root zone area as of Sept. 14.

Reported to Councillor Ward 22, Josh Matlow's office and Urban Forestry on Sept. 8, 2016. At that time a port-a-potty was sitting right next to the trunk. It was moved but more materials are being piled in the TPZ area. As of Sept. 14, no evidence of movement on this issue.
  • 214 Macpherson Ave Toronto, Ontario - Toronto
Contractor has taken over part of the public sidewalk to install a backyard fence. Sidewalk is very narrow as is and this just exasperates the situation. Phoned details into 311 today. Service request sent to Transportation Services for enforcement.

Contractors for a project to convert natural turf to artificial turf are parking illegally on City property on the lawn adjacent to the sidewalk on the Cleveland St. flankage of the playground yard at Maurice Cody Public School and Community Centre. TDSB vehicles are also parking illegally. I'm worried about the damage done by vehicle tires running over roots and compacting soil around the three City trees planted on the boulevard. I've emailed my councillor, Josh Matlow (Ward 22) who has not responded. I've phoned City of Toronto Police Services, Parking Enforcement, several times, but the illegal practice continues every weekday. It is so frustrating that the City of Toronto does not value its green infrastructure and contractors are given free rein to ruin it.
