Traffic light Archived1600 Semmes Avenue Richmond, Virginia - SwansboroThe timing of this light has changed so there is traffic backed up when there didn't used to be. The light for those on Semmes and turning left (from either direction) used to be independent from the light for those going straight on Semmes (in either direction). Now the lights for travel in one direction are grouped together, which isn't bad necessarily but the lights turn green and red at the same time so for those going straight in either direction, the light is very, very short (because the green light for going straight is only as long as the green for turning left). This is what's causing the back up.

I will grant you that they are beyond potholes at this point (more like large ditches in the ground) and I would stop requesting it if someone told me it was being referred to another department instead of closing it without another word.

It used to operate in typical block system fashion in which the 9th and Byrd light turned green, then the 9th and Canal light, then 9th and Cary, etc. Now 9th and Byrd turns green but 9th and Canal stays red, which causes traffic to unnecessarily back up here.

The entire street used to be synchronized but now it is noticeably off. Now one must wait at light after light instead of them all turning green sequentially yet around the same time. I previously reported S 9th St at Byrd but this intersection is also affected (at a minimum).
