Chapel Street Resident

  • Corner Of West Rock Ave And Chapel Stree New Haven, CT - Westville
There is a red car (possibly a Buick) with Maryland plates blocking the FIRE HYDRANT at the corner of West Rock Avenue and Chapel Street. The car is also parked the wrong direction for that side of the street and doesn’t appear to have a zone 4 permit. This car has been there since yesterday and has not moved. Please address ASAP because this is a safety issue if there is a fire.

Leaf bags were not picked up on Chapel Street in Westville area (Yale Ave to Forest Road). Thanks.

The city took down a tree earlier this week and left large stumps behind. When we called we were told that they have limited trucks available for picking up the stumps. Ironically the city just took a tree down at 2070 Chapel Street and everything was removed. Please remove the stumps you left at 1922 Chapel Street since the truck is in the area. Thank you.
  • Chapel Street Between Yale Ave And Central Ave New Haven, CT - Westville
Here we go again....the chapel street raceway opened bright and early for all of the lacrosse tournament parents! Its amazing to watch their blatant disregard for the fact that they are in a residential neighborhood. Today's event includes them speeding down Chapel Street (from Yale Avenue) and turning left on Central Ave only to find that Central Ave is closed to thru traffic. At this point they turn around and speed back up Chapel Street to get in line for parking at the Yale Ave entrance to the Yale Bowl. Yes-that's right! The same entrance they already drove past but were feeling too entitled to wait in line I guess. Is it too much to ask for New Haven Police to have a police car parked on Chapel Street? I'm not looking to ruin anyone's day by having them get a ticket but police presence alone may curb some of this speeding.

It's that time of year again...The Yale fields are being used for lacrosse tournaments and the luxury suv driving parents of the lacrosse players are flying down Chapel Street like it's a highway. Vehicle after vehicle turns right off of Central Ave (once they realize Central Ave is closed for these events) and then floors the gas pedal to speed up to Yale Avenue. I was just out walking my dog and was startled by the roar of a dark gray BMW X5 accelerating as if he was on a highway entrance ramp. Where are the New Haven Police with a speed trap when we need them?

Requesting removal of diseased/dead tree that exhibits wood decay, cracks/splits, and a hollow cavity. Pieces of dead/loose bark continually fall into the street and onto vehicles if parked in the street under the tree.
