  • 374 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford
Pears around City memorial have branches as low as 4' and need trimming up in the "memorial park" on a wedge-shaped city parcel where Winthrop, Lawrence Rd, Wyman St, & Suffolk St come together
  • 719 Winthrop Street Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Remove the "ENDS" from the "Bike Lane" sign, since the bike lane now continues into Winchester
  • 190 Lawrence Road Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Need "Bikes May Use Full Lane" sign where the shoulder line suddenly ends westbound on Lawrence Rd just past the Hospital. Should be placed on either telephone poles or existing sign pole
  • 252 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford
Young tree at 252 / 254 Winthrop has branches that overhang sidewalk and block sightlines. This seems separate from a request to trim the trees across the street (which also shows as 252 Winthrop in See Click Fix)
  • 608 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford
Tree too low over sidewalk at 608 Winthrop St. (Photo is from maps.bing.com before the sidewalk reconstruction)
  • 522 Winthrop Street Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Too many low branches on the city's tree at 522 Winthrop St southbound/inbound as it approaches Wildwood.
  • 314 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford
Sickly ornamental street tree (Cherry?) with out of control roots. It has leafed out, but maybe should be replaced rather than trimmed. (Photo is from Google Maps March 2022)
  • 340 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford
Tree at 340 Winthrop St overhangs the sidewalk and has too many low "suckers" While you're trimming the gum/maple across the street (5 Badger/"341 Winthrop") please also trim this one.
  • Oak Ridge Rd & Shepherd Rd Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Faded Stop Sign(s) at Shepherd Rd @ Oak Ridge. Particularly the one facing northbound Shepherd. Related to Issue 8303399 which was logged as a "Traffic Signal" issue so maybe didn't get the Signs department's attention. (that other issue also asks for painted stop lines, this is just a "replace the faded signs" request. See also: https://seeclickfix.com/web_portal/A2BdH3HocPePZJdmWVn8VjQ3/issues/8303399

20" Wide and 8"Deep Pothole. The pothole described in the 7-month-old issue 10514136 (https://seeclickfix.com/web_portal/A2BdH3HocPePZJdmWVn8VjQ3/issues/10514136) has grown large and its ejected gravel is all over the road. I'm re-submitting this because it has grown very large and will hurt a car's suspension or throw a 2-wheel vehicle rider.
  • 02155 Medford, MA, USA - Medford
On the Voc Tech - Medford High service road on the corner by the Pool, there should be a 2-way stop (and was, Until it was plowed away in the snow this past winter). Specifically, There was a stop sign this rear corner that told people who were "leaving" to stop. (Those "arriving" still have a stop sign, visible edgewise)
  • 25 Bussell Rd Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Faded yield sign needs replacement with a new reflective & visible one.
When "doing" a new sign, Might even consider a stop sign and stop line here given the poor sightlines.
  • 301 Main St Reading, MA, 01867, USA - Reading

Problem: Bar grates, a quarter-turn "off" will trap bike tires, throw riders to pavement or into traffic.

Two problems: these should be modern "checkboard" grates (which are safe no matter which way they turn), but when re-using old "parallel bars" grates they NEED to be turned 90 Degrees to be safe on a city street.

All along "redone" Main St, there are old-style "bar grates" that are oriented in the "interstate highway" direction (highways forbid bikes and mopeds, so it is there preferred to orient catch basin grates in the "egg slicer" direction shown).

But on any street where bikes and mopeds are permitted, bar grates need to be turned in the "rumble strip" direction so that a skinny tire does not drop between the bars.

Once a skinny tire drops into a grate like this, the tire is trapped/wedged and the bike/moped stops and the rider is thrown face-first into the curb, pavement or traffic. Not good.

Please instruct a city crew to inspect the catch basin grates and turn them 90 Deg into the rumble strip orientation where necessary.

Tree Warden Issue: Low branches on tree on Grove St nearest High St @ Boston Ave. Low branches make it hard to see the Stop sign specifically (and the intersection generally).
  • 2-10 Grove St Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford

Grove St drivers can't see STOP sign at High Street.

Indicated by the yellow "starburst" in the included photo, the Stop sign is invisible, partly due to low tree branches, partly due the curve as Grove "points at" Boston Ave. Curve here puts the stop sign "around the corner"

I Suggest both a "Stop Ahead" sign and a stop sign on Left side of roadway. Might create a separate issue for the Tree Warden to trim up the trees here.

Could the Tree Warden take another look at this long-suffering Norway Maple? It has now had its roots cut on the left, right, and streetside, and already had significant rot at the base, and I worry about it falling when the leaves are next caught by the wind.

She (The Warden's team) has already trimmed the crown to lighten the load due to a 5-year old bark gash that killed the cambium on the street side. A valiant effort.

But the injuries have continued: Sadly, this year's water-line replacement & gas-line replacement have now cut the roots on the left and right (in photo). It may be time to take it down before it falls over.

  • Jackson Rd & Sagamore Ave Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford

Bad intersection geometry made worse by too few stop signs and bad stop sign locations with no stop lines on the ones we have.

I've written to City Traffic Engineer, Mr Blake, but wanted to record the issue here, too.

Drivers from Jackson Road cruise through this intersection without stopping (because they have no stop sign) and then angle themselves at a strange slant so as to ignore the stop on Sagamore. Same for drivers going Lakeview to Jackson, they have no stop and they drive fast and at a strange angle.

Drivers on Sagamore Ave also seldom stop because the Stop signs are poorly located, hard to see, and don't really "make sense" compared to the vibes that the intersection sends of "you have the right of way on the big, straight street" and stopping here is "mid block" or "too late"

Probably needs stop sign on Lakeview in the short term, better paint (stop lines, crosswalk @ school bus stop) in the medium term, and curb and sidewalk changes in the long term.

  • Badger Rd & Rural Ave Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford

Stop sign is non-reflective and very faded.

Northbound on Rural Ave where it 4-way-Stops with Badger Rd. Others seem not as bad to me, but maybe check if they're below official standards?

30 Pitcher Ave Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford

Tree Warden needed to trim low branches at 30 Pitcher Ave (shown), and 21 Pitcher Ave, and 15 Pitcher Ave.

I originally reported this in July a (see https://seeclickfix.com/issues/6174294) and the city wrongly closed and archived it without resolving it. As a result, the tree shown has been injured by a truck.

This time please assign this to the Tree Warden and let's get all 3 trees safely trimmed up.
