The road, sidewalk, area around the catch basin and the adjacent private driveway continue to sink. The last batch of cold patch did not help since the underlying issue (I&I in the sanitary line) has not just continued, but sounds worse. Please have someone look at the site and propose a solution other that filling the new holes with more tar.

Street (and driveway) around catch basin on Stevenson and Spencer (Between 325 and 345 Stevenson) continues to sink. Last response was to put cold patch in the sunken spots. Since the underlying cause (excessive (I&I) has not been addressed, the road around that catch basin is still sinking and the driveway has gotten worse.

As you can see, when the plow comes down the south side of Stevenson (odd numbers) it begins its turn up Spencer well before my driveway. When it comes back down Spencer it turn left to plow the rest of Stevenson starting past my driveway. This was the case and was reported last year! Please adjust your route algorithm to resolve this.

We are trying to get information on the regulations concerning fencing on our property. The ordinance isn't clear and we haven't heard back from the building department. Can you give us guidance or refer us to the proper source of information.

Again, as usual, street sweeping was scheduled for the same day as waste and recycle collection (Monday). Again, as usual, posters were put up limiting parking to the even numbered side of the road or be subject to a $100 fine. Again, as usual, cars were parked on the odd numbered side and no one was given a ticket. If you don't change things on your end, nothing will change in the field. Either fine or don't say you will.

My house on Stevenson Road faces Spencer Place. A plow came down Stevenson heading east and took a left turn onto Spencer. Another plow appears to have come down Stevenson heading west and took a right onto Spencer. As a result I have some 40 of deep snow blocking my driveway. I don't understand why the plow didn't just go up Stevenson past my house and come down the other side after turning around at the end of Stevenson.

Again, out sweeping leaves and debris off drains after even that small storm last night. The debris on the street isn't going to go away by itself. In the past you swept both sides of Stevenson in one day, and even if you kept with the two day schedule, the Wed after Labor Day had no published streets to be swept which would have made it logical to finish Stevenson then. Since you had two trucks touring the street after the storm, if you were committed to leaving half our street unswept you should have prioritized the sweeping to clean the worse impacted side. You did none of these things and the debris continues to accumulate. It is supposed to rain again tomorrow.

Again, at about 2 am the debris I showed you yesterday - and you failed to clean up on our regularly scheduled street sweeping day - was covering the catch basins - again. You had someone touring the neighborhood a few days ago, presumably noting areas needing service. You also had the street sweeping crew clean THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET - WHICH HAD LITTLE DEBRIS BECAUSE IT WAS ALL IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. If I have to hire someone to clean up your mess do I send the bill to Public Works or the Mayors office?

We are scheduled for street sweeping the first Monday and Tuesday of the month. The crew came by yesterday and did the even number side. This debris field from Ida (shown here) is on the odd number side. You never came back today to clean this up. It is going to rain heavily tonight. Why were you not here and why were you not prepared for Ida? I will be out there again cleaning catch basins at 1 - 2 AM. This is unacceptable.

As a follow up, last night, by 7:30 these two catch basins were full and not taking any further water. By 9:30 the basin in front of 294 was backing up (the flow out exceeded the flow coming in. By 10:30 the manhole in front of 245 was backing up and overflowing. I couldn't close it against the pressure (closed it about 1:30 AM). It would appear that something is limiting the flow out of those catch basins. I sand bagged my driveway to minimize flooding but have pictures of the debris field if that would be helpful.

I reported this condition on the catch basin in front of 295 Stevenson road. This picture is of the similar catch basin across the street near 294 Stevenson Road. Neither of these are taking water right now and the rain fall rate is low.

The catch basin in front of 295 Stevenson Road is not taking water. I sweep the catch basins during storms so it is not a case of surface debris. The catch basin is full of dirt and debris. It is the first catch basin between my house and the run off swale from the Yale golf course. If this isn't addressed in a timely manner and maintained some of the houses hydraulically down stream will have water problems.

We are in the third week of milled roads with no sign of paving. We have seen 6/7 gas company crews roaming the neighborhood and in some cases digging up the recently installed pipes. I would like to know what is going on since gas main issues are not minor and should not be keep quiet. Please let us know what is going on.

We have raised the issue of the scheduling of street sweeping on refuse collection days on more than one occasion, and at neighborhood meetings. It makes the effort inefficient as the drivers have to avoid the recycling and garbage cans. In our case, this means that at least one of the catch basins cannot be swept as our cans and our neighbors cans bracket the catch basin. We have requested that the schedule be adjusted so that our sweeping does not coincide with collections and I repeat that request.

The area of roadway between the recent gas company excavation and the curb is sinking and should be investigated as to cause and repair.
  • 1-53 Conrad Dr New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
In addition to the worsening travelway conditions, the catch basin on Conrad at the corner of Kohary is failing. Erosion has caused the surrounding surface to collapse. Should a car coming down Kohary take the right turn to close to the curb I expect the car could be severely damaged. The catch basin on Kohary at the same intersection was repaired recently.

We were scheduled for street sweeping (Rte 11) for Monday, June 3. First, we have trash and recycling pick up on Monday so it doesn't see efficient to try to sweep around the containers in the street. Second, we did not get streets swept on 6/3 as scheduled. Does this mean we are getting this service until next month (again on a Monday?) With rain coming up we expect to - as always - have the catch basins clogged again.

Just wanted to thank you. The guys have done a great job dealing with these conditions and are cleaning up before everything freezes. Please send my thanks to the crews that have taken care of us.
