Friends of Union Street Dog Park, together with Quinnipiac University's Big Event cleaned the dog park, AND the sidewalk. It would be great if the leaf bags could be picked up.

We were not able to finish the whole sidewalk, because it had not been cleaned in months, and was too much work for us to complete. Some help from the city would be very welcome.

A huge thank you to our wonderful fraternity volunteers from Quinnipiac University's "Big Event" for their hard work at our Spring cleaning at the Union Street Dog Park. Today I was able to work with this great group of volunteers, as well as park members Bob T., Jonathan B., and Angela.

The public sidewalk and street have been sorely neglected, and we were very disappointed to see the area covered in garbage, discarded food, and leaves. We can only hope that when the new residential construction is finished at 87 Union Street the management will take a role in helping to keep the street clean.

The sidewalk and gutter have not been cleaned since other volunteers and I did it in December, 5 months ago. Can Public Works or Parks organize to get this cleaned up? We already did the bulk of the work in the fall.

Half the roadway is covered by a huge lake. The street has not been swept or cleaned since the fall (look at how dirty the sidewalk is!) and the drains are clogged. The puddle actually goes INTO the dog park.

A piece of a tree has fallen next to the Union Street Dog Park. During our fall cleanup on Saturday, we filled over 90 bags with leaves, but we found that the sidewalk and gutter have not been cleaned this fall, and it was too much for us, so we had to make a few piles of leaves in the gutter. I hope that they can be picked up, and the street can be swept, which is overdue. Thanks!

We held a cleanup at the Union Street Dog Park on Saturday, with volunteers from Quinnipiac University and Burzenski & Company staff. We filled almost 100 bags with leaves. I did not plan on the fact that the sidewalk had not been cleaned at all this fall, so we were a little overwhelmed with the amount of leaves, and had to make a few piles of leaves in the gutter. I am hoping the city will be able to pick them up when they do street sweeping, which is overdue. Thanks for your help!

Disgusting garbage being eaten by animals. Chicken bones, personal hygiene products, are all dumped 2 feet away from my house by the Chinese AirBnB guests to the 3rd floor apartment at 45 Woodland Street. Someone needs to clean this up immediately. I am sick of the problems created by different irresponsible guests in and out of this building in the past 2 years. Is running a hotel really legal in this residential building? I also want this garbage area completely removed from between our two buildings, and put in the other property's huge parking lot. Where else is it OK to have one house's garbage up against the neighbor's house? Why do I have to live like this? Does Toni Harp have the same problem where she lives? Who do I talk to about this?

Can the Parks Department please put back a proper Parks-type garbage can? If you put the rolling toters here, people just steal them to use for whatever they use them for.
I just finished cleaning up all the garbage that had been just thrown into the enclosure. Please put a proper receptacle here, and in the second enclosure, the same kind that is in other city parks. Thanks!

Illegal use of rental apartments as AirBNB.

This entrepreneur has set up a service, RERENT, where he handles Yale grad students' sub-rentals of their apartments, regardless of the fact that it almost always violates their rental contract, and turns the building into a de facto "tourist hotel", for which it has no operating permit.

Last night at 10 PM, 3 AirBNB clients tried to force their way into my front door, thinking it was the AirBnB at 45 Woodland Street! The brilliant Yale entrepreneur, of course, was nowhere around. How about if I wanted to monetize HIS peace of mind and the sanctity of HIS home? Another brilliant market plan.

Union Street Dog Park users are reporting that both lamps are not working on the single light pole that lights the dog park, and it is pitch black after 5 PM. Could you give us an idea of when we might expect the lights to be fixed? Thanks! RFMusco, Friends of Union Street Dog Park

A man has been seen sleeping in the small dog area of the dog park in the past week, and one of the dog owners has complained that on one occasion he threatened to feed something to dogs that would make them sick, and on another made threatening gestures toward the dogs with an object.

We request that the police take notice of anyone sleeping in the park, and get them to move on. We want to have safe access to this community resource, which we are mostly responsible for creating and maintaining.

    Thanks!

Just when I had hoped LCI had convinced the owners of 45 Woodland to stop storing or dumping garbage against the wall of my house, last night at 3:30 AM the people who came to remove snow piled 3 feet of it against the wall. I have already spent about $1100 repairing that wall from the damage caused when garbage cans, trash, and snow, create moisture that damages the cement blocks. PLEASE get them to stop!

Friends of Union Street Dog Park did a leaf cleanup last Sunday. We are late this year because of the early snow.

The leaves are safely corralled up inside the park, so they can be easily accessed by opening the service gates.

We may do another cleanup if there is a warmer day in January, because we didn't have enough volunteers to cleanup the sidewalks or the small park, so we will leave the corral up for a while.

    Thanks!

The new owner at 45 Woodland Street continues to allow their trash, wet bags of leaves, and rotting construction debris to be thrown against MY house. The last owner did it because he said that it might bother his tenants if it was against THEIR house. The city has to give them a ticket and order them never to do this again.
  • 169 Winchester Street New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
For years the landlord at 169 Winchester insisted in pushing all the trash and recycling from his 4 rental units up against the wall of MY house so it wouldn't smell for his own tenants. Now this selfish and inconsiderate person is gone, and the tenants have moved the containers away. But today the new owner allowed workmen to pile up rotting construction debris against MY house. Why not against his OWN property? What kind of ridiculous behavior is this? LCI please keep this from happening again!

A stop sign is desperately needed on Sachem at Winchester. There used to be a sign there, but it was removed before construction of the Yale colleges began. A few injuries have been reported at this corner, and a number of people have complained about the need for a stop sign on SCF for several years, but this has been ignored. No one understands why such an easy fix is so hard.
  • 155 Prospect Street New Haven, Connecticut - Prospect Hill
The pedestrian walk signals have not been working at Sachem and Prospect for several WEEKS! Pedestrians wait patiently, then finally cross the best they can with no "walk" sign. Please fix this NOW.
  • 87 Union Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
This area behind the fence near the south end of Union Street Dog Park has not been cleaned up since the bags with the body parts were found a few years ago near the railroad tracks. I hope it won't take another dismemberment to get this cleaned up! It is unhealthy, unsightly, and contradictory to what the city wants to do with making the Downtown Crossing a safe and healthy area.
