Deep hole in sidewalk

There is a crosswalk, but pedestrians never seem to have the right-of-way and there isn't an electric walk signal. This creates a very dangerous situation as you basically always have to jaywalk across the crosswalk. Please give a gap between greenlights so that pedestrians can cross and give us a signal.

Since UVM became smoke free, colchester ave right by the sign has become the UVM medical center smoking lounge. The sidewalk is now covered in cigarette butts, and there is no ashtray. If you kick the smokers off campus, they don't just stop smoking, they smoke elsewhere and without a receptacle for cigarette butts their trash becomes the community's problem. Please install an ashtray or create a designated smoking area!
