Building has extreme structural damage that the landlord has known about for years and has done nothing about it. Sunlight can be seen through cracked bricks and bricks are falling out with the wind. Unfixed roof leaks have led to black mold inside the apartments and inside the walls making tenants sick including the children living there. Unfixed roof leaks have led to parts of the ceiling and walls to break off and fall down onto tenant belongings, ruining things left and right. Landlord has made no real attempts at fixing that either despite tenants withholding rent and going to court where he was told to fix everything. The whole building including 580 madison is also infested with roaches and has been for years and again the landlord has never once called an exterminator and allowed a mother and children to move in without telling them about it. Landlord is loosing his faculties and forgets tenants have paid rent already and harrasses them constantly and then smear campaigns them to other neighbors as being just a nonpaying tenant despite being fully paid up. Landlord has used the cops, let them into the house with no notice, trying to enact an illegal eviction and to rob tenants out of money that he's already been paid and wrote receipts for. I was forced to pay 2000 for future rent under the threat of arrest. Do not rent from Joe Galu. You will get sick from the mold and possibly have the roof cave in on you and will have to deal with a senile and greedy slumlord.
