Mr. Spaulding,
Litter reduction is a goal of the town of Cary. It is a problem that we should all take ownership of. We have created the SPRUCE program for the purpose of litter reduction as well as beautification. I would strongly encourage you and others to participate. Litter reduction is all of our responsibility. I have participated in the last several litter sweeps with many volunteers including our youth. What a great example it would be if more adults would help with this problem. Please help me and others keep Cary clean, green, and beautiful by volunteering for our SPRUCE program.
Thanks,
Harold Weinbrecht

I appreciate and agree with your reply. I moved to Cary about a year ago from Washington DC. After serving in Mayor Anthony William's campaign and encouraging him to take a stand on littering, I was appointed by him to lead his Clean City Intiative. To abate littering, illegal postering, and other quality of life violations, I implemented a 4 pronged program addressing needed legislation, stepped-up enforcement, public education, and community involvement to make a difference in the appearance of the public space. I have provided the foregoing to let you know how much I recognize and support the importance of citizen involvement in any litter reduction program. I do appreciate what you are doing as Mayor to maintain a high quality of life in Cary. I will look into the SPRUCE program, as you suggested, and see how I can volunteer. Sincerely, Vince Spaulding
