we have been in our house for 35 years and crime has not been a problem. We once had furniture stollen from our front porch where there already was a streetlight. Also, no accidents since there is already a streetlight at the stop sign

I live on upper ferguson and the new street lights light up our bedroom like it's daytime. It interferes with our sleep, and is very irritating. They all need to be taken down a notch.

I also live on Upper Ferguson and agree that the lights are too bright. Anything that BED could do to lessen the intensity would be greatly appreciated.

While BED is an outstanding utility in many ways, I have to say the streetlight program has been neither transparent nor responsive to citizen concerns. As mentioned by my neighbors on upper Ferguson, BED installed new lights earlier this summer, which was done with no advanced warning or outreach of any kind (they simply told us they were putting our service lines under ground). And once the lights were installed, one of my neighbors submitted this SCF ticket: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/6461366 on August 12 expressing concern about how bright the lights are in our block. Jamie Cortez at BED acknowledged the issue and said it would passed along to engineering to see what could be done. We are still awaiting a response nearly three months later.

They might have changed to using LED lights without considering that white LED's are much brighter than the old lights.

Some best practices that other cities and towns have adopted around this issue:

1.Always use fully shielded fixtures that emit no light upward

2.Use “warm-white” or filtered LEDs (CCT < 3,000 K; S/P ratio < 1.2) to minimize blue emission

3 Use products with adaptive controls like dimmers, timers, and motion sensors

4.Consider dimming or turning off the lights during overnight hours

5. Avoid the temptation to over-light because of the higher luminous efficiency of LEDs.

6. Only light the exact space and in the amount required for particular tasks

We would not have known that there was a plan to put a street light in our side yard except that we asked why they were drawing a circle in our yard, several feet from our house. There is no sidewalk or curb there, only the side of our house. Is there a way to discuss this before this pole goes up in our yard? I am very upset about having a spotlight on our house all night, especially since there are streetlights on the corner and non in the block between Richardson and Pine!

thank you. Tell the engineers that the light is 27 feet from our house with no tree to block the light. It would shine right into our bedroom window and sleeping porch. Thankfully trees block some on the light from the streetlight in the middle of the block but it still lights up our yard and deck. There must be a better way to do this.

I am told that after speaking with your husband on Friday it was determined that the light originally scheduled to be installed next to your house is now being moved across the street.

My Husband wrote to Mike Kanarick today with copies to engineering department and the director. Any light on the side of our house is unacceptable because of the bright spotlight that will shine on our house. We are disagreeing with this decision to put so many streetlights on our short strip of road. and would like a hearing or meeting with the decision makers on this issue
