All along Larchmont Ave in the Manor there are overgrown bushes! People have to walk in the streets including parents pushing strollers, little kids, old people, etc.The owners of these houses MUST cut their bushes back. If anyone walking in the street because of these overhanging bushes is hit by a car, the homeowners should be LIABLE for any injuries.
This is a problem throughout Larchmont Village. The Mayor should take action and make people cut their bushes back so pedestrians can walk safely. For those people who ignore summonses, the Village should impose fines and cut the bushes and overhanging branches themselves
No, no action has been taken. For months, I have been walking every day down Larchmont Avenue and nothing has been done to these, nor the several other rows of bushes that are now overgrowing the sidewalks. It is ridiculous! Most of the avenue should or could fit 2 people walking side by side. At these homes, 1 person can barely get by without hitting the bushes.
And let's be honest: it is DANGEROUS that these bushes are overgrown because pedestrians (including people with kids, parents with strollers, and older people) are actually forced to walk in the STREETS because of the overhanging foliage. The owners of these houses should be held liable if anyone walking in the street in front of their house is hit by a car...a not unlikely occurrence !
More clarification:
The worst problem is at the following houses:
11 Woodbine, at the corner of Woodbine and Larchmont Ave. This house has bushes planted right up against the sidewalk and they encroach over nearly 1/2 of the sidewalk. This house is under construction and the Village should not provide them a certificate of occupancy until this problem is fixed--by removing these bushes or replanting them several feet back from the sidewalk.
There are also overhanging bushes at 8 Woodbine (corner of Larchmont Ave) and at 59 Larchmont Ave and 65 Larchmont Ave.
On the other hand, many homeowners on Larchmont Ave appear to have cut back their bushes...so thanks to them!
