Standing water on this corner is a very bad problem that has gone on for many years. It's a horrible eyesore, and it's also unsanitary (stagnant water, mosquitoes, etc.). Sometimes it takes days after a moderate/heavy rain for the water to drain. The drainage issue seems to worsen each year. Given the historic Carillon arches, the designation of the Carillon as a national historic district, and the public significance of this corner as an entrance to the Carillon, Dogwood Dell, Byrd Park, and many annual public events (including Arts in the Park), the City needs to prioritize remediation of the drainage problems.
