Description
The new traffic light at St. Paul and Cherry has been flashing since it was installed about 8 months ago. Ever since then it has been causing confusion with drivers and pedestrians.
Pedestrians press the buttons to cross, but nothing happens, and they keep pressing it. Drivers often don't stop for pedestrians because there is a signal there (so they normally wouldn't need to). I saw one person a couple days ago dash across the crosswalk because cars wouldn't stop for him.
Cars are also not properly treating the flashing red light as a stop. Some drive right through like it's not there. Others give a quick tap of the brakes, but don't stop for vehicles waiting at St. Paul St. or for pedestrians.
It's a nice traffic light setup. Can we turn it on please?

But at any rate, maybe the signal technician could remove the pedestrian buttons or put bags over them so people don't have the unrealistic expectation that the light is functional and not just stand there waiting for something to happen that isn't.
