The Water Division of Vallejo does experience water lateral leaks similar to many water agencies throughout the State and the Country. In many cases we are obligated to prioritize our repairs based on the ability to provide service to customers. The highest priority is to repair areas where customers are out of water. At this location the leak is a service lateral and is prioritized as a first come first served basis. As you know your house is located on the boundary of the wetlands adjacent to the Napa River. Therefore has a very high water table and is subject to salt water intrusion. When your subdivision was constructed the only acceptable service lateral material was plain copper. The use of copper laterals without additional coatings is no longer our only option as we have found (as have many other agencies) that the non-coated copper is subject to acclerated corrosion when placed in soils near wetlands where the water table is high and typically has higher salinity than in areas further in land. The water division is replacing other laterals in the area and will be adding your lateral onto our list. We are now using a poly-coated copper which has regulatory agency approval and is more resistant to the corrosion found in your area. We are working with vendors to explore other material options that have approval by State and Federal regulatory agencies to be used to deliver potable water. We will not use materials that are not approved for use. The City of Vallejo Water Division is committed to delivering a safe supply of water to our customers.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I notice the Vallejo Water Crew has marked the area for repairs. The only other question I have is after the repairs are competed will you also repave the road? I just want some written and posted comment this will also be part of the repair project. Thanks for the "heads up" and know someone is aware of this problem.

All streets are repaired after work is completed. Please be advised that depending on the amount of breaks and the schedule of the street maintenance crew, this could take a few weeks to schedule. The coordination with PG&E has been ongoing and as we have fires near Clear Lake and other places they mobilize crews for power outages first. Our leak is not taking priority and requires and extensive shut down to enable our crews to access the source of the leak. We have rescheduled with them and are expected to be working on this at the end of this month.
