I just counted, and it's 33 signs... 35 if you count the ones in the window that are shuttered at night.

This needs to be corrected right away.

While we're on the topic of signs in public places, why can't somebody do something about all those "Sell Your House Fast" signs that are nailed to poles all over our neighborhood? (And nailed too high for anyone to remove without a ladder!)
A. They're ugly.
B. They make our neighborhood look cheap.
C. They're illegal. And it's not often that criminals leave their telephone numbers at the scene of the crime! I want LCI or the police to call these companies and tell them to remove them or face a fine.
Yes, it's only a misdemeanor, but most Quality of Life issues are minor crimes but major nuisances.

This might be a zoning violation on the corner store. I will look into it with a zoning officer. Furthermore these signs "we buy house" are not permitted. I agree these signs are unsightly and add to blighted conditions in our city. I offten see residents taking them down, as do I every day that I am out in the field, which is at least 4 days a week! I usually call the companies and give them a verbal warning first plus make them take their signs down. If I see them again it is a $100 fine per sign.

The signs are mostly still up. Sandy took down a few of them, and I'm pretty sure I saw some neighborhood kids running off with one a few nights ago.

It's been three months since LCI acknowledged this issue, but the signs are still up. Any followup from LCI?

I used the "notify" tab at the top right to make sure LCI is getting notified about this. It would be helpful if they could resolve the issue.

LCI - (Dwight/West River District) has contacted Zoning and there are different regulations for different zoning districts. The store located at 275 Edgewood Avenue can display signage on either the wall or in the windows but it would be limited to a total of 90 square ft. I will go and take another look at it and speak with the owner.

LCI went to 275 Edgewood Avenue (Sadaf Market) this morning at 8:17 a.m. and spoke with the store's attendant regarding the signage and the square ft that's allowed (Left the Neighborhood Specialist business card for the owner to contact with questions). LCI was assured that the excessive amount of signage would be removed. Also explained that the property should be kept free of trash, litter, and debris at all times. LCI will monitor.

Still looks ugly, but at least there are fewer signs up. It would be nice if they would clean up the building, but for now I'm happy that there are only 6 or 7 signs up!
