I live at 1016 and have seen squirrels go in and out of hollow parts in both trunks of this tree for years. It is a silver maple, a softwood tree, and has a major limb hanging horizontally straight out, all the way over the driveway and over the park way in front of my own house. It also has a large secondary trunk sticking out at approximately a 40 degree angle, it will very possibly hit the house at 1018 when it falls. The tree looks anemic in spite of plentiful rain this Spring. The tree is lifting the driveway ramp into the street, and the sidewalk before it, so that vehicles coming and going often scrape against them. Harmon--I believe that he used to be in charge of tree removal--was willing to take it down a few years ago, but I at that time I did not insist that he do it.
