An Animal Control Officer will be dispatched to complete an investigation of the situation and determine if the reported behavior is in violation of the law. The Animal Control Officer will inspect the animal and inform the owner of the correct protocols. If you personally witness an animal being beaten, or if the animal is left outside for extended periods in the cold, please call 911 immediately.

This is an absolutely unacceptable response. Animal control won’t do anything about this issue. It is HEALTH issue - these unvaccinated, probable diseased cats are entering private homes and urinating/defecating. This could spread disease and ruin peoples property. They are aggressive and could spread rabies or other diseases to people - including children-and other domestic animals on the area. This will be reported to City Hall and the NYS Health Dept since won’t take this issue seriously.

We have had animal control respond this this address and are attempting to make contact with the owner of the residence. Unfortunately, it is not illegal for someone to feed a stray animal and due to the overcrowding of the animal shelters, the feral cats cannot be trapped and brought to the shelter. I will loop Department of Codes in on this to see if this justifies an inspection on their end.

Unfortunately, it is not a code violation to feed the neighborhood cats. When the inspector visited the property, there was no evidence of any other animals in the area. In addition, the owner of the property removed the feeding bowls. Therefore, at this time, there is no violation that can be cited.
