Description
Numerous accidents have happened here due to drivers ignoring the no U-turn sign and lane markings stating right turn only into Tractor Supply. Suggestion: block lower entrance into Taco Bell/Starbucks as entrance only. This will force motorist to exit the shopping center by traveling behind the carwash to make a safer left turn or to exit by the light at Wendy's. Witnesses to traffic patterns in this area report motorists exiting between Taco Bell and carwash and then making an illegal U-turn past the concrete median.

I spend some time on Wednesday watching this intersection and this is what I saw. Observation Date: 2/29/12, Start time: 2:30, End time: 3:33
The following vehicles all made illegal U-turns after coming out of the shopping center between Taco Bell and the carwash. They made a right turn onto Purfoy Rd heading south, then made a U-turn at the intersection of Old Sexton Place.
Time: 3:08 - Silver Honda
Time: 3:12 - Silver Nissan Maxima
Time: 3:17 - Black Chevy Truck (he actually couldn't complete the U-turn in one maneuver. He had to do in by heading into Old Sexton, then backed up onto Purfoy and finished his turn. It was more like a 3-point turn.
Time: 3:31 - Silver BMW
There were two other vehicles during that time that chose to turn around in a safer manner. At 2:32 a white van came out the same driveway between Taco Bell and the carwash but then made a right into the carwash, made a left onto Market St (that's the TSC shopping center lot) and then made a safe left turn onto Purfoy Rd to head north. This maneuver avoiding making an illegal u-turn nor did she have to turn around in the Old Sexton neighborhood.
Another vehicle (Black Geo Trakker) did the same at 2:40 PM. Very smart!
Please, please enforce No U-turn at this corner before someone gets killed here. We shouldn't have to wait for that to happen as we have seen in other locations in Wake county. Contact the property owner and have them redesign the traffic pattern from their property so that traffic is directed to exit on the south side of the property by traveling behind the carwash to make a left or right turn onto Purfoy, or to exit onto Main Street at the light by Wendy's.

Observed tonight...Start time 8:05PM, road conditions: wet and drizzling. Here's the data.
8:17 PM - Red extended cab Chevy truck with landscaping materials turned around on Old Sexton Place. Now, he didn't make a U-turn thankfully, but it certainly unfairly annoys the residents there.
8:18 PM - Red Jetta made a U-turn
8:21 PM - Teal Toyota Tercel made a U-turn
8:22 PM - Burgundy Nissan Xterra SUV made a U-turn. This guy actally signaled his intent, he put on his left blinker and then swung his vehicle wide right driving over the right turn lane markings.
8:23 PM - White Jeep made a U-turn, and at the same time!!!!
8:23 PM - A large red dually truck came out of the driveway by Taco Bell and drove right over the median to the Bojangles side.
At this point I tried to call the Mayor. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I hope you are reading this Mr. Mayor. Your mailbox was not accepting messages at 8:28. We really need you to go out there yourself and see what is happening here. What about the property owners, can you talk to them? They ought to have some liability here for how traffic is directed from their property. Think about it... If someone on their way to Fayetteville, for example, sees Taco Bell and stops for a quick bite, they will automatically assume they can exit the same way they came. As it stands now, they don't realize they can't continue on until they try to exit and are faced with a median and, for most, no option but to make a right. If they don't live around here they likely don't care about making an illegal U-turn at this point. They're probably in a hurry, have somewhere to go, and so they risk it. They also risk the safety of the folks who live in Fuquay-Varina.
The solution is simple. Block traffic from exiting at Taco Bell. That driveway can easily be made an entrance only. Then direct traffic as they leave the establishments with arrows and lane markers to travel behind the carwash and make a left by the new church, then another left onto Purfoy if there intent it to continue to travel down Mainstreet.
At 8:34 PM I left disgusted.
