Description

I've walked the entire IRB beAch today picking trash ahead of the machines which will come through today or tomorrow. There is very little trash, just handfuls from the sea, and the quality of walking on the sand left alone vs the sand which the machines have disturbed is significant. The natural sand and shore is much nicer to walk, and the shorebirds are using it. The disturbed sand has removed wildlife habitat, the shorebirds have no where to rest and eat and nest. Tourists come here for Florida's natural environment. Let's think about enhancing our dunes and beaches for the shorebirds and the tourists will follow. We love ITB beaches and hope we can improve them.
