These signs disappeared as soon as the trail opened. On the other hand, as someone who used to ride the trail, I will say that only someone with a death wish, or a masochist would ride this stretch of trail, through, to southern Hamden - it's a great place to get mugged or assaulted - the whole area has a really menacing, negative vibe.
Community efforts are being made to add positivity to this section of the trail. Replacing this sign is necessary to facilitating the revitalization of the trail.
Yeesh. Racist much? This is not a glamour trail, it’s a trail through a real city with real histories. Like, did you think that the swells were going to live near the train tracks? Or that after the trains were gone the area was going to magically be free of the economic and real estate racism that permeates the rest of our lives? You think it’s such a bad trail, don’t ride it. The trouble you went to to come here just to be racist is remarkable.
But yes, New Haven, please fix this sign so that, among other things, the people who live around here and the people just passing through know that you care about the neighborhood — and not just at election time.
We are closing this request due to its historic nature. If this concern still requires attention and you still believe SeeClickFix is a viable tool for its resolution the best way for it to be addressed is for you to create a new request including a current description of what is occurring and what solution you hope to see regarding this matter, citing/linking this request in the details.
