Would East Point's leaders please update residents on which specific PPG manufacturing process has resulted in these strong odors over the past few days? It's past time for this particular manufacturing process, whatever it may be, to be moved offsite.
PPG is a publicly traded company whose defined purpose is to "protect and beautify the world." In the 3rd quarter of this year, the company had "record third quarter net sales of nearly $4.4 BILLION, about 19% higher than the prior year." https://investor.ppg.com/financial-info/quarterly-results/default.aspx
PPG can afford to move this manufacturing process offsite.
It is not right for East Point residents to suffer health problems reported in various See Click Fix reports over the past few days, including difficulty breathing, watery eyes, a burning throat and an uncontrollable cough, so that this company can make exorbitant profits.
East Point leaders, please:
1) Demand this manufacturing process be moved offsite;

Thank you for submitting this issue. The City has been in communication with PPG regarding this issue. Recently, the City learned of community meetings that PPG has hosted with residents. PPG is working on an odor mitigation plan that they will share with City leaders. After that, PPG plans to present the plan to neighbors and get their feedback. PPG is working with EPA as well. PPG is asking for input and feedback from residents affected by these odors. They can be reached at 404-761-7771.
