Parking has been allowed here for several years, and residents make regular use of this space to enter their homes at the front door. There have been no accidents, and there is room for two lanes of traffic and parking, just as there is on Linden between Lawton and Oglethorpe. I am far more concerned by the busses that fly down the road in this area.

Just because the speed limit is not enforced does not mean that we as homeowners should not have the same privilege as residents on Lawton and Linden. Montpelier has parking on both sides of the street at Mercer Village. Perhaps we should add speed breakers on Coleman.

As Linden is one way this is not a comparable situation. If you actually go out and measure there is not enough room on Coleman for someone to park and for a person to pass that car safely. as you can see from the picture they have to go out into oncoming traffic to do so. Particularly for someone who has adequate offstreet parking, I think it is not reasonable to create an unsafe situation to also have parking at the front door.

Perhaps there is speeding in this area, however that was not my concern as I have not seen it. I believe it is not a speeding issue, but a space issue. When I was parked to take this photograph, several large trucks passed me along with half a dozen cars and all of them went into the lane of oncoming traffic.

By the way, thanks for mentioning the speeding issue. That just adds to the seriousness of the situation.

The center lane needs to be moved over to allow for better use of the road. There is room for two cars to pass by a parked car. At Mercer Village both sides have cars and the amount of space for the two lanes would be the same as on Coleman. Also Lawton Ave between Linden and Adams allows parking on one side of the street. I do think speed breakers would be good on Coleman as they are on Montpelier.
