City of Emeryville PLUS

There are at least 10 cats and 4 dogs at this property. No one lives in the home with them and the cats are fed in the street and dogs can be heard barking and crying all day. The owner of the property does not live there and stops by once every couple days at night to give the animals food and avoid being seen. I’m not sure if the dogs are ever able to be outside. It’s heartbreaking to see these animals being so neglected. This home is in my neighborhood and it’s truly hard to walk by everyday seeing and hearing these animals while I walk my well cared for dogs.

Apt 7110 has a long haired chihuahua that is allowed to run unleashed from their home and patio into community areas. On multiple occasions the dog has snarled and attacked my leashed dogs and on one occasion snarled at a small child with the dog owners completely unaware as they let their dog terrorize neighbors unaccompanied. Tonight, the dog attacked my two leashed dogs and I screamed for the owner to come and retrieve her aggressive dog. I have previously complained to apt management but no apparent action was taken. The dog is aggressive and unattended to and will end up biting another dog or person.

Is there a way we can post a sign asking dog park users/dog owners to please quiet their dogs while they’re visiting the park? Every evening there are a few loud, yappy dogs who bark continuously for minutes at a time. I haven’t seen any signage at the dog park with etiquette suggestions; maybe if there’s a sign we can post, dog owners will remember that there are many neighbors whose properties overlook the dog park; the barking can be quite a nuisance.
